Xbox development kits stolen
p2p news / p2pnet:- Ten Xbox 360 development kits have gone missing from a warehouse in Duren, Germany, says Spiegel Online, quoted in Eurogamer.
The kits were delivered to a warehouse in Germany in unmarked packaging for onwards distributed onwards to developers, “in order to create games for the new console platform,” says the story, which goes on:
“A few days after the shipment went ‘missing’, photographs of the kits appeared on the Internet, with the serial numbers edited out. Police raids in Austria and Germany recovered three of the units, but seven kits remain untraced [sic] at present as the investigation continues.”
“In a recent interview with Gamespot.com, Microsoft’s chief executive J Allard suggested that piracy on the new console was a given, which the company has already accounted for, says Eurogamer.
Nonetheless, with Christmas on the way, Chris Satchell from the Xbox Advanced Technology Group recently said Microsoft has gone to great lengths to defeat modders bent on taking Xboxes to new dimensions.

From http://www.xb360info.com :
“On Wednesday, August 24th, 10 XeDK boxes (Xbox 360 Developer kits) were stolen from the central warehouse of MS Europe [...]
[...]on September 6th a further 14 (!) Xedk developer kits were stolen.”
With 3 now recovered, that’s still 21 out in the wild…
