MTV broadband-only channel
p2p news / p2pnet:- MTV has launched a 24/7 channel distributed entirely over broadband to 730 US schools.
Called mtvU Uber, it’s available through both streaming and what MTV says is a unique on-demand capability.
The company also announced a partnership with CiscoSystems to award ten grants of $25,000 to create ten "broadband incubators," funding students or student groups to create games, movie shorts, music videos and more for the broadband environment.
But MTV hasn’t gone so far as to embrace the concept of openness. Rather, each project will be released only on mtvU Uber.
Both mtvU and mtvU Uber are owned by Viacom International.
