Faulty HP battery packs
p2p news / p2pnet:- After getting reports that some rechargeable lithium ion batteries in HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario, HP Compaq and Compaq Evo laptop computers had over-heated and melted, Hewlett Packard is recalling about 135,000 battery packs.
The packs were sold internationally from March 2004 through May 20005 by national and regional electronics stores and on Internet sites such as http://www.hp.com and http://www.hpshopping.com, says the Seattle Post Intelligencer, adding:
“Consumers should stop using the products and contact the company for a free replacement. For more information, call Hewlett-Packard at 888-404-7398 or visit http://www.hp.com/support/ or http://www.cpsc.gov.”

the wait is approximately 30 minutes on the phone and the web site is not accessable. that web site is http://www.hp.com/support/batteryreplacement………..don‘t bother. try calling the phone number at 3: a.m. that is if it is 24/7, otherwise invest 30 minutes of your time to get the product you paid for, that is, originally.

You’d think a company this size could handle the Web traffic a recall would generate. The phone number provided tells me “your call cannot be processed at this time.” They want my computer to melt in my lap.
