Gates gives $15M to museum

p2p news / p2pnet: California’s Computer History Museum is billed as the world’s largest institution “dedicated to preserving and presenting the artifacts and stories of the Information Age”.

It’s therefore fitting that Bill Gates, who wants to make sure the information age unfolds as per his dictates, has donated $15 million to the museum.

The money was presented by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and will be, “applied to expanding its endowment, accelerating its current operations through a matching grant to generate greater community support, and creating a ‘Timeline of Computing History,’ an interactive exhibit that will trace the computing revolution and its impact on the human experience,” says a museum press release.

And of course, “in recognition of the Gates Foundation gift, the ‘Timeline of Computing History’ gallery will be designated in Gates’ honor.”

The statement doesn’t say whether or not Microsoft’s foray into the world of law enforcement will be featured.
