Stamp out soccer streaming

p2p news / p2pnet: Britain’s Premier League is tracking web sites offering illegal streaming of live football, “and intends to take legal action against the ISPs hosting the sites,” says vnunet.com.

“The organisation claims to have been tracking the sites for six months, and has hired the services of web monitoring firm Netresults to monitor the activity,” says the story.

Sites based largely in Communist China and the Far East use p2p streaming to in effect relay live soccer matches to people in Europe.

But, BigChampagne’s Eric Garland said Americans could potentially use the technology to stream feeds from US channels, “which could mean U.S. programming beamed free around the world”.

“The Premier League is now calling for group action by sports rights holders to stamp out the activity, and has held talks with the ruling bodies in tennis, Formula One, cricket and rugby in a bid to form an anti-piracy alliance,” says vnunet.com, adding:

“The problems are similar to those being experienced by the music industry with illegal downloads. In the Premier League’s case, programming from live events is being taken from satellite feeds and streamed to anyone on the internet.”

Haha, i bet this has given them a shock :)

I personally don’t watch much football, except when england plays. The premier league is just boring and repetitive.

But, it’s always nice to challenge these monopolies. The bosses live in lala land, where everything always goes there way, so it’s nice to catch them off guard.

    4) Have you heard about the “society of spectacle”, football is part of it (indecent salaries, drugs addiction, rapes…)
    5) Premier league winner is Chelsky oops Chelsea, everbody knows that there’s no such thing as a russian billionaire so Abramovitch is a huge criminal and uses criminal technics to win.

Recently there has been some talk about rights to show the matches live on TV. At the moment if you don’t have sky your options are to either watch it on a friends tv, if you know anyone with sky tv, or go to the match. It is, therefore, no wonder that people are using these ‘pirate’ streams.
