Skype Groups pre-pay service
p2p news / p2pnet: Former free VoIP provider Skype Technologies SA [read eBay] is about to launch Skype Groups “pre-paid Skype services among employees and third parties, such as suppliers and customers”.
Skype Groups software “ enables an IT administrator to make a single large credit purchase from Skype and then distribute credits to an unlimited number of callers,”continues Computer Business Review. “The administrator can manage Skype credit transfers and provisioning of services. The administrator can also add and remove users, bringing its suppliers and customers into the system.”
A company can purchase Skype-In numbers with local area codes in different regions so its customers are charged for a local call, says the story.
“Skype calls are free when other Skype users are called over the Internet, but when normal telephone numbers are called Skype charges a few cents per minute because it uses the normal telephony network to deliver the call over the last few miles,” says Reuters.
