Singapore student blog charge
p2p news / p2pnet: A 17-year-old San Yu Adventist School student has become the third person to be convicted under Singapore’s sedition law.
Gan Huai Shi was alleged to have made racist comments about Malays and Moslems on his web log but, he may avoid a jail term on account of his clean record and age, lawyer Edmond Pereira said on Thursday, according to the Bangkok Post.
“He has learned his lesson.”
Senior district judge Richard Magnus delivered landmark jail sentences to marketing executive Nicholas Lim, 25, and Benjamin Koh, 27, on October 7 for similar offences, says the story, adding:
They were the first people to be jailed under the Sedition Act since 1966. Koh, an animal shelter assistant, was jailed for one month and Lim for a day.

I have a friend who used to be a programer for a Singapore based airline. She quit and moved back to her family home in Malaysia. A while later she went to visit friends in Singapore, and passing though customs in her car, they noticed a pack of chewing gum on her console.
She was detained, taken straight to court, and fined 800 Singapore dollars (approx 475 US dollars) are you ready for the charge? The charge was possession of a controlled substance.
