Madrid counterfeit ring busted
p2p news / p2pnet: Working for the entertainmenrt cartels, Spanish police have broken up a Chinese-run counterfeit ring operating in Madrid, Spain.
The entertainment cartels now routinely use international police personnel as industry cop units, paid for by the citizens of the countries concerned. This latest effort is, “the largest operation against music and film piracy ever undertaken in Spain,” claims the IFPI, saying the gang was releasing more than a million counterfeit music and film discs every month.
“During the operation, 69 people all Chinese nationals were arrested,” says Big Music’s IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industry), going on, “Four have been sent to prison on judicial warrant, and many others had no legal permits to stay in Spain.”
“Over 200 police officers from Madrid, Alicante, Burgos, Salamanca, Malaga, Orense, Valencia and the cities of Getafe and Puertollano took part in the raids,” brags the IFPI.
While the police units were looking after corporate business, lesser crimes, such as mugging, rape and robbery, went on hold.
Helping the police were “local recording industry group Pro-musicae, and IFPI’s Enforcement arm”.
