We are in for a rocky time in the future. When production and manufacturing were the things we did well, the future was rosy bright for the average Joe. Today its quite different.

Today the corporations see those dollars being paid out to workers as their profit leaving. They see it this way so much so that layoffs are the theme of the decade, leaving countless workers without jobs. They didn’t reduce the workload for those that remained either. Those that have a job still are doing 3-4 times the workload for the paycheck they did in the past. The “What have you done for me today” is rampant in the country and if you can’t point each and every day to a big cost saving idea, your job could be next.

The information highway is what corporations are looking to turn into the latest profit maker. To date they haven’t gotten it down pat as to how to make the internet the paying market that they figure it should be. If they can do that, the middle man is gone, so is mom and pop stores of the past. We will once again see the days of the company store and the rip off prices that go with it.

The IP is the way they want to secure the product so that no one threatens their little corner of the world. If they can secure the internet as the market place, then they don’t have to deal with the carnage they left in the wake of all the layoffs and can deal with the world outside that area. They all want the internet marketplace to run on ball bearings for them. All have been short sighted about who is going to pay for those products when the majority of workers no longer make a good living. Saying that this product is going to cost $300 bucks isn’t going to be something high on the list of someone making minimum wage. Those making minimum wage are more interested in paying for food and utilities, anything else is just dreams.

With rising fuel costs there are going to come a lot of belt tightening for all of us, not just those fat cats at the top of the corporate ladder. The clock is ticking and it IS just a matter of time.

remember kids, you, everything, and everyone is just a commodity. You will be judged as a person by the total sum cash value of your clothing and accessories. Stealing is a crime, but greed is just a sin, so take as much as you can from anyone you can as often as you can, and then file lawsuits against them for more. It’s not simply enough that you have more than anyone else, you should be able to dictate what other’s, the less worthy, are able to have. If little billies parent’s make less then your’s, then he isnt your friend. someday, we will laminate the world, but until then, there is nothing more important than money.

Dear Mr. Bush:

The first oath of the president is to defend the Constitution. And that Constitution of yours has been bastardized by being ignored. It was ignored when slavery was obviouly uncontitutional but made legal by the representatives of the wealthy who owned the slaves and the courts.

Now you and the purchased legislators ignore the constitutional purpose of the copyright mandate, which is to promote artistic creations for the good of the people, the public. So instead of honoring the constitution, the public doamin is reduced each time that some cartel lobby wants a change that usually that works against the public domain and for the benefit of the cartels, Wahat theses cartels do mostly is grab the creations off the enslaved artists so that the ensalved population has to pay dearly for whatever art is thrown at them. The art is mostly crap because the arts no longer atract the more talented artist. The prefer to work where they are paid for their work.

Mr. Bush, please read the constitution and think over the priorities. Is it the welfare of the public that put you there and you work for or is it the welfare of a few businesses?

Also ask yourself if the laws are to be layer upon layer of confusing laws supplemented by layer upon layer of jurisprudence, then enforced against kids? Is this the American notion of justice?

I never thought about that before! About how when we were little, we were always taught to share, and that not sharing is BAD! Do parents and teachers still teach that to the young’uns these days? I’m 33 now and never became a parent, so I wouldn’t know.

This is bullshit.

In my case the court said of the 500 or so songs that a music publisher stoles from my familily and claimed as their own, ruining us and our credibility along the way and destroying the market for our songs during over severn years. NOTHING. That is what the judge of a mostly unwelcome American court here (Puerto Rico) said about the mass robbery of the songs composed by my father.

And what did the same judge say about a written plan, that he saw, by a second music publisher to obatain the songs of my father “without the author suspecting”. NOTHING. That is what he said, other than that the songs belonged to the publisher as if the songs had been legitimately acquired.

Kind of makes a liar out of Bush and company.

well, no matter how many millions of people may benefit (or even survive) due to the free exchanging of ideas and information, maintaining an iron handed monopoly by a few mega corps is obviously more important than to the wellfare and health of the kajillion people who could use it.
I really wish when i was in kindergarten the teachers would have made it clear how terribly terribly wrong it is to share anything with anyone, ever. Grandma singing in the shower again? She’s pure evil, so turn her in and get some swell prizes.

Unfortunately Secretary Gutierrez does not appear to have a good understanding of the intellectual property laws in the U.S.

‘Ideas’ can not be copyrighted, patented, or trademarked. Patents are generally awarded to ‘devices’ as opposed to ‘processes’. In order for a process to be patented, the process has to produce a very specific result for a very specific purpose. A process patent is also drawn very narrowly to cover only that very specific process.

If entire societies are stealing pharmaceuticals and software it would behoove the management of the companies that make these products to bolster the security at their warehouses.
