Sweden porn law changes
p2p news / p2pnet: Swedish justice minister Thomas Bodström wants to make it illegal for anyone to distribute pornographic pictures of people under 18 online, even if they look older.
“We must tackle the increasing number of people who lure children and young people over the internet,” The Local has him saying.
The idea is to secure more convictions, he told the Social Democrat party, says the story, going on:
“In England, it is now a criminal offence to ‘groom’ children over the internet with the intention of having sex with them, and Bodström said that Sweden could also introduce such a law.
“Bodström also said that he was looking to toughen child pornography laws so that the age of the victim has more impact.”
Current Swedish law defines child pornography as pictures of someone “who has not fully gone through puberty,” says The Local, adding:
“Under the new rules, Bodström said that in those cases where the subject of pictures can be identified, pictures will be illegal if the person is under 18. If the subject cannot be identified courts will be asked to judge whether they appear to be sexually developed.”

yeah if you eat fruit and veggies every day (the recomended serving) this can reduce your age look by about 5-6 years. If all the people do this in the 18-25 range, they may look underage and therefore they may be considered illigal. What a load of crap this new law is for those people that eat fruits and veggies every day.

While i can’t disagree with the aims, i can’t imagine how this would be enforced. Here’s just a few potential gotcha’s just off the top of my head.
Mistaken identity. There are ppl out there who look incredibly like their grandparents did at their age. It’d be easy to get confused as to who the person is in such cases. Not to mention cousins, siblings and actual twins. Once a colour photo is scanned, how old is it? Who knows? File creation dates are meaningless, just email a photo to yourself, save the attachment and see what happens to the dates.
Differences in age restrictions from country to country. In oz you can legally drink at 18, i can easily see someone from here going to the US, asking for a drink in a bar and getting in trouble because the US drinking age is 21. Similar differences would probly apply to age limits on modelling etc.
Also my workplace is located literally next door to china town, i’ve seen women from asia with little or no protein available to them as they were growing up who look like their 16 until they turn around and you see the wrinkles. If they’re with their daughter who’s been raised in Oz, she’s typically twice mum’s height and much curvier. A risque photo of mum would probly get you into serious trouble unless you could see wrinkles in the picture.
So all up, nice idea, don’t see how they’re gonna avoid the pitfalls.
