Meet Hollywood’s JCHEECTTF
p2p news / p2pnet: We often allude to the Joint Committee of the Higher Education and Entertainment Communities Technology Task Force, an organization initiated and created by vested Hollywood interests soon after the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) began suing people, with a heavy emphasis on students, as an integral part of its marketing program.
Not at all coincidentally, with respect to students as targets, the RIAA and MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) are now corporate members of Internet2 which, they claim, is front and centre in student p2p file sharing activities.
And not at all incidentally, the RIAA boasts only one owner to justify the ‘America" part of its title, and that’s Warner Music, run by a consortium headed up by a Canadian. The other owners are Sony BMG (Japan, Germany) Vivendi Universal (France) and EMI Group (Britain).
Back to the JCHEECTTF, it’s been a while since we updated the membership list, so here it is, according to Educause, which hosts the site.
This was published in May, 2004. It would be interesting to know who the latest ‘members’ are. For example, the RIAA’s Hilary Rosen and the MPAA’s JackValenti are still listed, although they’ve both departed for pastures new.
