Don’t forget the article in the USA Today’s Money Section.

That’s not fair. XCP has only shipped 2 million CDs and they are getting all the publicity. We at SunnComm have shipped over 20M CDs and nobody wants to talk about us.

We want to write a rootkit too, but we don’t have the experience yet. But we are trying. This is what I said two years ago:

“Future versions of the SunnComm software would include ways that the copy-protecting files would change their name on different computers, making them harder to find”

See. We were working on this before First4Internet were even heard of. Yet they get all the publicity.

Two years ago we were the ones that everyone talked about when we invented the Shift Key copy protection. It was a real breakthrough. We satisfied everyone. If you didn’t want to pirate the CD you just had to do nothing. If you wanted to pirate the CD, we let you press the shift key and presto, you could do anything you wanted. Ah the good old days.

    Sincerely,

Peter (I get $1M in shares next year) Jacobs

PS: Have you seen our magnificent results for Q3 2005. We earned $68,369 in the quarter. Not bad for a 30 man operation in Phoenix. OK we have been telling everyone that we would conservatively sell 145M CDs this year at 4 cents a CD. That’s $1.45M per quarter, so we are a smidgen behind plan.

Here’s a link to the patent at the USPTO. Note the repeated references to prohibiting the exchange or re-sell of “used games.”

Can anyone honestly believe that people will flock to buy a game console that will render all of their games worthless except on that one, individual game console? What if your console breaks or is stolen and you have to replace it? What if you want to take your game over to a friend’s house and play it on his console? What — we’re not allowed to take our used games to the local gameshop and trade them in anymore?

Unbelievable. It’s like they’re trying to kill their flagship new product before it even hits the shelves.

We’re witnessing the destruction of the Sony brand.

I believe they are trying similar aproaches to lock Hi-Def discs and downloaded Hi-Def content to specific players and/or PCs. Well, the good side of it is, if the big media mob cripples the next generation of digital content to the point where the average Joe can’t do the simple things we’ve come to expect from our bought and paid for content (they can stuff their “lease” mentality up their bung-holes NOW) people will balk at buying the crap. If the stuff is as crippled as the reports say I know I won’t be shelling out any cash.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Mr. Jacobs. Congratulations on your $ 1 M in shares next year. I’m very happy that you and your company are doing well. Regarding Rootkits (cloaked), when your company finally has the expertise to write Rootkits & should you happen do the same thing to CD’s (I’m not saying you will) as what SONY/BMG has been doing to us ordinary consumers (and got caught doing it) you’ll be the center of attention. Have patience. Remember, it’s lonely at the top. Been there, done that. Money does not make life better, just easier. People power rules, not big corporations. I wish you & your company all the best. In it’s all out efforts to protect its product, it has forgotten that the customer is the key to making a profit. If the customer isn’t happy with the product they won’t continue to buy. Repeat buying is what Sony needs to remember is the key to them staying in business. So far they are seeing greed of the repeat buy being that everytime a change is made at the customer level that they want paid. The price ain’t right for the stuff they are pulling. The product ain’t that good either. Once the customer learns that any game isn’t transferable, they will vote with their pocketbooks as to what they believe in.

Kids aren’t dumb. Once they figure out that them and their buddies can’t play together at either home, they won’t be wanting another PS3. Microsucks will be happy to sell them one that will. In the meantime, Sony’s market share will continue to do the downslope.

Sony is doing for the cartels what we could not do ourselves towards putting them out of business. They are earning the customers lack of respect for their products and by reflection that of the rest of the cartel members. While the rest of the cartel hasn’t put their distance between them and Sony to isolate themselves, look for that move if this sort of stuff continues. It will be either that or the rest of the cartel members go with Sony down the drain.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

If you brought one of the infected CD’s from Sony and wish to take them up on their direct swap deal make sure you drop a big LOAD on it before taking it back just to let Sony know what you think of their latest DRM scheme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
