Watch out iPod, here’s the cPod
p2p news / p2pnet: Watch out Apple, here come Communist China’s first OEM portable players, the Techno PMP-10S and PMP-30S.
The 10S features a 3.6-inch TFT color LCD screen that delivers up to four hours, or two feature films, on one battery charge, also offering options such as a 20G hard disk drive, 2.0 megapixel (MP) digital camera, digital camcorder, display screen, TV out, voice recording and Windows Media Player, says ChinaTechNews.
Techno introduced the PMP-10S at this year’s 10th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition in Shenzhen, it says.
The story doesn’t say how much the cPod will cost or if it’ll be available for sale outside of China. Nor does it give details about the MPM-30s.
The iPod is made in China too ; ) But no ……

Apple’s dominance of the portable video player market (and the “mp3″ player market) is inevitably temporary. It simply cannot be maintained when the content is provided via a closed, proprietary system. Too bad about the windows media player feature on the cPod. But then, what else are they going to use? I just hope that MS .WMx formats & DRM do not become the defacto media standards. That would be really bad. Really, REALLY BAD. If we end up being that unfortunate AND HD-DVD were to win out over Blu-Ray MS would pretty much have the media world by the balls.
Vista, .WMx, MS DRM, & HD-DVD
Very scary when you put it all together…

actually there are loads of similar devices available with similar or better specs if you look on ebay and most of them are from unknown manufacturers
