Bram Cohen, Dan Glickman
p2p news / p2pnet: Here’s an interesting, but not very surprising, situation – Glickman and Cohen standing together in front of a phalanx of ‘cams and ‘corders.
“Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) Chairman and CEO Dan Glickman and BitTorrent Founder and CEO Bram Cohen will hold a press conference on Tuesday, November 22th, 2005 at the American Film Institute,” says Tom Mennecke on Slyck.
“The MPAA Motion Picture Association of America released an advisory yesterday that MPAA head Dan Glickman and BitTorrent founder Bram Cohen will hold a joint press conference this afternoon at the AFI in Los Angeles,” says Xeni Jardine on Boing Boing.
“While the MPAA provided no details in advance, Glickman and Cohen are expected to announce a deal between BitTorrent and the movie industry that transforms the filesharing service into a commercial distribution channel for movies and other forms of digital entertainment.”
As p2pnet said recently, “It’s a virtual given that sooner or later, BitTorrent will become a major sales and distribution vehicle for the entertainment and software cartels.”
Stay tuned.

Ummm, nobody is using the original Bittorrent client. Nobody. Mainly because it’s been superceeded many times over by the rest of the clients. So, Mr. Cohen is irrelivant to any of the client-side aspects of the current BT scene.
The company that develops the old Bittorrent client has no control over any trackers or torrent sites either, so there is no relevance on that side either.
So, there is NO SUCH THING as the “Bittorrent file sharing service”.
This Bram kid looks like another ‘love me daddy’ confused child playing in the wrong side of the sand-box because he thinks it’ll make him a few bucks. Poor confused boy.
