‘Nonaligned’ news net attacked
p2p news / p2pnet: Eighty developing nations want a Net-based news resource called agreed the Nonaligned Movement News Network to be launched in the hope it will "combat what they see as smear campaigns and distorted coverage of their countries in the Western media," says Red Herring.
"But Human Rights Watch (HRW), an organization dedicated to upholding political freedom and exposing human rights violations, called the network a temporary victory for repression," it says.
Only Cuba, Iran, Syria, Myanmar, North Korea, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Malaysia have been named as members and for HRW, "this is not a sterling list of countries friendly to journalists".
HRW spokesperson Minky Worden is quoted as saying, "These are all countries that have a very tight grip on their domestic media. I presume they are tired of pesky wire reporters. Zimbabwe, for instance, has systematically crushed the press. Myanmar’s national newspapers are a joke outside the country."

This is BAD news. Doesn’t the US press realise that this is a move by Islamic nations to white-wash Islamic terrorism of the Laden kind…?
Take a look at the NAM member-states here: http://www.nam.gov.za/background/background.htm#4.1
About 75% of the sstates are outright Islamic. Those that aren’t, are either Communist (like Cuba) or majority-Muslim (African states). The few secular states (like India, Bhutan) have internal Muslim problems.
I’m going to post this on political news blogs. Others should, too.
