Dear p2pnet readers …
p2p news / p2pnet: Dear Readers of p2pnet:
What a way to spend Thanksgiving.
Several friends and independent musicians from Virginia are in the New Orleans/Slidell area of Louisiana playing free music for the people and in particular schools.
In addition to everything else that the people of NOLA and Slidell lost to Katrina, musical instruments were destroyed, washed away, or made just plain unusable.
Since we’re no longer seeing it on the news every day, we tend to forget about it. But there are still needs we in particular can help with.
Through WDBJ7, a local TV station in Roanoke, Virginia, indie musicians have arranged for the station to collect musical instruments, to be shipped to a Junior High School in Slidell, or can be shipped directly to the school. (Think Junior High School Band).
What’s in your closet? You can find a link to a related video here.
Since we here are about music, promoting it, getting paid for it, encouraging others to play and hopefully inspiring youth in the value of music, I was hoping those of you who have old instruments laying around, stuck in a closet, attic or basement might be willing to donate to the cause.
Or if the mood strikes you and you want to go out and buy from pawn shops, new, used, unused instruments, please feel free.
To learn more about the requests, visit The Feel Good Tour to see some of what’s been going on, where to send the instruments, etc.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. And if anyone (press) wants to get in touch with the musicians, shoot me an email and I’ll give you the contact info. Or you can get it from the Feel Good blog, although I have the cell number if the need is urgent.
Time to clean out your closets folks. All they ask is that the instruments be clean, and in working condition. They can be sent directly to the school at:
ATT. Sue Abney
Boyet Jr. High School
5929 Rebel Drive
Slidell,LA 70461
or to WDBJ-TV at
Att. The Feel Good Tour
WDBJ Television Inc.
2807 Hershberger Rd.
Roanoke,Va. 24017
For information call 540 344-7000
In addition, Musiclink and Dragonfly will be sending musicians down to the area to play.
I’ll post more on this as it develops.

If the cartels were really into music, they would be doing this in order to inspire new artists. This just goes to show you what they are really into.
