China Okinawa invasion spoof
p2p news / p2pnet: A Tokyo man who posted on a spoof Yahoo site that China had invaded the Japanese island of Okinawa has been arrested.
Yahoo wasn’t amused and the man, programmer Takahiro Yamamoto, 30, was nabbed, "on suspicion of violating patent laws, said a police spokesman who spoke on condition of anonymity, citing departmental policy," states the Associated Press.
"The office said Yamamoto allegedly accredited the fake article to Kyodo News Agency and published it on an Internet site that he had designed to look like Yahoo Japan Corp.’s news site."
Yamamoto’s PC was seized so police could analyzed data, says AP, adding:
"Kyodo said both it and Yahoo had filed complaints to police in October."

This has been going on for years, mostly using BBC news site as a template. Very easy to spot as it is not actually on a yahoo server!
Harmless fun, unless some retard was taken in by it, and then in his anger decided to involve the authorities.

Sad, sad day when satire is considered illegal.
