Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2

p2p news / p2pnet: How does this strike you? " Instead of buying proprietary UMD discs at $20 each from a limited catalog, now you can create open digital video files from all your content that you can use on all your devices anywhere you want."

Cool?

That’s the promise from Neuros which says you can "Break the Sony PSP Content Logjam" with its $150 Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2.

The company says its MPEG-4 Recorder is like a free-standing VCR able to record onto digital memory cards instead of VHS tapes so videos are playable directly on the PSP or "other handheld devices".

O as Neuros puts it, "While the industry giants tussle over which proprietary, locked-down piece of malware will emerge as the best way to squeeze every last nickel out of unsuspecting customers, Neuros uses open standards to make sure your content plays everywhere without hassle."

Recorder 2 MPEG-4 files can be played back directly on virtually any portable device accepting memory stick or CF memory cards it’ll also let users view recorded video on their TVs.

"And with your PSP™’s USB connection or an inexpensive USB adaptor/Card reader (not included), you can easily drag and drop content from the memory card onto your computer to play it on your laptop or home PC," says Neuros, adding:

"The device weighs ounces and fits in the palm of your hand, so you can easily take it on the road with you as your portable digital VCR."

Wish this could be a wake up call to the MPAA groups (fools) that this and a iPod video or PSP, etc. is to movies as the RIO player was to mp3’s a thing to help make them portable.

sorry i must be missing something, i don’t see the point of this device. You can get 1gig memory sticks, or just use a re-writable dvd to transport video.
