New name for Oz RIAA
p2p news / p2pnet: News flash! The Big Four Organized Music cartel’s ARIA has changed its name to the ARIA!
As of December 1, it became known as the Australian Recording Industry Association instead of the Australian Record Industry Association.
“Changing the name of ARIA is a small but important step for the industry,” themusic.com.au has ARIA boss Stephen Peach saying.
“Over the past few years we have witnessed the significant growth of digital music internationally. As these exciting technologies continue to develop and establish in Australia, it’s important that the name of the industry association be truly reflective of the key focus of its members.”
The ARIA has, “also taken this opportunity to implement a new website at www.aria.com.au with more issues, and a new logo to portray a clean, fresh image,” says the story.
It’ll need a lot more than that, but anyway, “Music is all about creativity, imagination and innovation, so it’s important that the ARIA name and logo are reflective of these values,” declares Denis Handlin AM, ARIA chairman and chairman and CEO, SONY BMG Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand.

“small but important step” ???
This is simply the cheapest way to get into the news without actually doing anything.

Don’t forget the stationery and business card suppliers too. I’m sure they’re very happy with it all.

“Music is all about creativity, imagination and innovation…”
Really? Why hasn’t anyone told the cartels that? All along they’ve been mistakenly thinking it’s all about ripping everybody off for as much as possible as often as possible.
I’ll bet they’ll be really embarrassed when they find out.
