Cingular high-speed wireless
p2p news / p2pnet: Cingular Wireless says it’s is now offering a high-speed Net service called BroadbandConnect.
It’ll provide average mobile data connections between of 400-700kbps on the downlink and bursts to more than a megabit per second, it says, going on that additional devices and services that take advantage of the HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access ) network, such as transmitting full motion video and providing ultra-fast audio, are coming next year..
Cingular’s data cards are dual-band HSDPA/UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) 850/1900Mhz and backward compatible with EDGE and GPRS 850/900/1800/1900Mhz, allowing for session handover to Cingular’s EDGE network, it states.
The Sierra Wireless AC860 or Novatel U730 laptop modem card are available for $100 “after rebate” when customers sign up for a qualifying voice plan and introductory two-year $60 Unlimited Data Connect plan.
Monthly data plans start at $20 for 5MB.
