Daily Express downloads

p2p news / p2pnet: Britain’s Express Newspapers wants to cash in on the non-existent corporate online music business.

It’s launched four music download stores for its Daily Express, Daily Star, OK Magazine and its online Daily Snack.

"With a combined readership more than seven million, it is intended that these four services reach hitherto untapped markets," says a statement, going on:

"For example, OK Magazine readers are an ideal target for a music download service and this service, aimed at readers of Britain’s number one celebrity lifestyle publication, is the first digital entertainment store specifically tailored for an audience with a strong female bias and customers will get a clear view of what other customers with similar tastes are purchasing.

"Farzad Jamal, Group Internet Development Controller of Northern & Shell said, ‘OK’s editorial focus on celebrity lifestyle is the perfect bridge to offer readers a direct opportunity to download entertainment product’.”

    There is a saying, a sucker is born everyday. Suckers always think there is gold at the end of the rainbow, and they deserve to be the owners of the gold, for no reason and no work at all.

    The fact is that there is no business model that will work with digital music files. This is because these files, as a product, cost zero to duplicate and deliver and unlimited abudance can be easily be created.

    Any economist will tell you that the market value of the described product is zero. The only way such a product, music files, could be sold is through coercion and monopolies, which by the way, reminds me of RIAA.

    My tip to Daily Express: Forget your idea. It will never work.
