MS dumps IE for Macs
p2p news / p2pnet: Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is dead. Or it is on the Apple Macintosh platform, anyway, and nor will it be available for download, say Bill and the Boyz.
As Microsoft puts immediately next to an advertisement pushing IE 5 for the Mac:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER FOR MAC USERS
In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with published support lifecycle policies, Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and will provide no further security or performance updates.
Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple’s Safari.

Well, could someone explian why IE6 sucks, im not no computer geek or nothing so help me out,

It is a massive security mess. Security holes everywhere, patches every month…..I do not think anyone should ever surf the net using IE. We removed its use from all our computers here at our school district it is so bad. So 8000 kids learning how to use the web, without IE.

Well windows itself is a massive security mess too. It’d be cheaper to get the kids learning how to use some different *nix distro’s. 8000 kids learning to use pc’s without windows.
That’d scare bill “no pies!” and steve “the chair” a heap i’m sure.

How about this idea: have some big government make it mandatory that all educational institutions and government agencies use GNU Linux on their computers.
Now, THAT would scare Microsoft and Apple shitless. Heck, it might even put Apple out of business. If I recall correctly, Apple’s biggest computer market is schools.
