Intel, China’s SMG, team up
p2p news / p2pnet: Intel and Communist China’s Shanghai Media Group (SMG) have teamed up to tap SMG’s Chinese subscriber base with Intel gear.
The collaboration means later this year, SMG users will be able to get entertainment programming and content online and through consumer electronics products featuring Intel Viiv technology, says ChinaTechNews.
"The second-largest media distributor in China and the first in the country to receive an IPTV and mobile TV operation license, SMG owns 13 analog television channels, 11 analog radio channels, two newspapers and two magazines, and also produces, licenses and distributes domestic, Korean and Japanese content," says the story.
The company also has exclusive rights to broadcast live sports games online and has acquired the exclusive license from FIFA to broadcast World Cup 2006 online in China.
