It seems Beatrice Murch, aka Paiselychick, was out for a walk at Duxbury Reef in Bolinas, California, when she chanced upon this gunged-up piece of hardware, she posts on her blog.

“On the way out to the stream, we came across a dead computer,” she says.

“We did some examination and found out that there was a M$ motherboard, and so we surmised that it’s a dead XBox.

“Dad had a new toy, an MP3 recorder, and so he conducted an impromptu and very funny interview with our resident computer scientist, [info]kragen.

“I put it up on the archive for posterity.

“Click here to download and here to look at all the different versions.”

Kragen is Beatrice’s husband : )
