LA sues GTA San Andreas co

p2p news / p2pnet: Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive Software is being sued by Los Angeles because the city says the company failed to disclose that its Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game contained “pornographic” content.

“Take-Two used “deceptive marketing practices and fraudulent manipulation of an industry rating system” to sell the game as ‘mature’ rated while it should have been marketed as ‘adults only’,”

Los Angeles City attorney Rocky Delgadillo is quoted as saying in Bloomberg News.

For Take-Two, whose ‘games’ have been widely criticized for their savagery, it all started when it was discovered a Hot Coffee mod hidden in San Andreas could be opened to show colour animations of people having sex.

After lying about the mod, Take-Two eventually admitted responsibility. It was finally forced to take the game off the shelves, and GTASA was reclassified Adults Only.

“Take-Two board member Barbara Kaczynski quit over indecent images that appeared in ‘Grand Theft Auto’ games and management’s responses to her concerns, according to a letter filed Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission,” says Bloomberg.

yeah nothing worse than watching black guys screw white women!

  2. Reader's Write Says:

“pornographic” content – borderline, at most, and also not between real people but computer models.

quoting ‘games’ implies that they’re otherwise, they’re not.

it mentions the critisism, but leaves out the fact that this series is among the highest selling and most critically acclaimed of all time.

    now you know both sides.

I can see a whole lot of overworked, stressed out programmers thinking that this could be the way to get back at their employers for treating them like shit. Add something you know will get them in trouble with the law, hide it, and then after you’ve quit, “discover” it and tell the world.

EA better start worrying. I seem to remember a whole lot of stories coming out for a while about ridiculous hours being worked without overtime being offered, let alone paid. It only takes one programmer.

    “critically acclaimed”

    wot a laff

  5. Reader's Write Says:

I think, as with many other cases, that the problem was lying. Content was technically pornographic, even if computer generated, but they could still have sold the game by having it rated adult, but they decided to lie about the content so they could still sell in regular retail chains to all ages. Basically, it amounts to greed, they wanted their porn and $ too.

I would think any guy screwing your woman would be worse…for you I mean.
