You are forgetting this is the same woman who lobbied strong for legal protection for DRM, and then after DRM was deployed complained that she couldn’t exchange DRM encoded files (cryptographically locked content) between the players of different DRM vendors (different DRM keys/etc).

This is like buying a pool full of water and then complaining that the water is wet. It shows a complete lack of understanding of what she is asking for.

Rosen lacks any useful knowledge to share with clients, so I have to feel sorry for the people duped by her snake oil. Then again, she is worse than a snake oil salesperson as I don’t think she is bright enough to realize that she hasn’t a clue about what she is talking about.

These people steered the music industry through its well known acceptance of the digital revolution. Maybe this consultancy should be called âbetter late than neverâ.

Jay Berman was also on the board of Loudeye, owner of Overpeer the spoofing company that planted spoofed recordings on the web to the annoyance of music consumers and the amusement of unauthorised sites who increased their value as traffic increased to cope. Unfortunately cheating music consumers with fake recordings wasn’t a long term business propostion with Overpeer recently closed down.

Berman’s relationship with Loudeye may even have been while he was emeritus chairman of the IFPI!
