Apple’s new $150 nano
p2p news / p2pnet: Apple is now offering a new $150, one gig nano it says can hold hold up to 240 songs, or 15,000 photos.
And it features, "the same gorgeous color screen as the other iPod nano models," says the company
Unfortunately, a number of angry owners say the gorgeous screen scratches so easily that they launched a class action.
Be that as it may, Apple is also now peddling iPod shuffles at $70 for a 512mb version and $100 for a 1gb model.
"Music capacity is based on four minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding [read DRM]" and "photo capacity is based on iPod-viewable photos transferred from iTunes," says Apple.

128kbps eww…..
I’d rather listen to songs in fully quality.

Then one would assume you might not want to purchase an iPod. Nobody is forcing you.
I’m certain that you’ll enjoy the sound of your portable audiophile system. Just be sure to attach your Monster cables to the speakers observing the correct “direction” for optimal electron flow.

AAC isn’t DRM, it’s only MPEG-4. .m4a are DRM free, .m4b are with DRMs. iTunes encodes in .m4a which is what I use currently. 128kbps AAC seems same quality as 160kbps .mp3 itunes encoder for me.

You’ve never heard a LAME mp3 encoded with -q0 then. Thats what they all say when they are so quick to judge mp3s…

“LAME mp3 encoded with -q0″
“–preset standard” in the command line is all you need to get GREAT sounding VBR MP3s from lame.
