So they will insert an audio signal impossible to hear for humans, but devices will pick it up and prevent you from copying if the watermark is detected.

In other words, an audio frequency, or more than one, but out of the audible spectrum of humans. I am not an audio expert, but I know radio communications can be jammed, specific frequencies can be jammed; Couldn’t his watermark (audio frequency) be jammed too? I think it could. If you can jam the watermark then you can still copy all you want.

Conclusion: Mitch’s plan sucks ass. It won’t work. Alt plans won’t work either. People is way too creative, workarounds will be used. Give people more credit. The market is not full of grannies. The analog hole CANNOT be plugged.
