Nintendo DS with Opera
p2p news / p2pnet: Opera scores points for its latest move to keep its browser in the public eye.
Nintendo DS users in Japan will now be able to surf from their systems using the Opera browser which’ll be sold on a DS card.
"Users simply insert the card into the Wi- Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens," it states. And, "Within just five seconds of turning on the system, the Nintendo DS is already fully operational," Opera has Masaru Shimomura, deputy general manager of Nintendo’s R & D department promising.
The data reception card will also allow the unit to in effect become a portable TV.
"Web pages on the DS will span both screens of the handheld, with the touch screen functioning for forms of input," says DS Advanced. "The browser will also fully recognize stylus movements associated with the touch screen in order to adjust the viewing angle of the bottom screen."
Opera bowser is, "currently slated to release in Japan during the month of June at the price of 3800 yen, roughly $30, and will include ATOK Kanji conversion software," it says, adding:
"Whether or not Nintendo Ltd. has decided to bring this add-on to the United States remains to be seen."
