Will PlayStation HUB = Xbox Live?

p2p news / p2pnet: "Well-placed industry sources" say Sony’s PlayStation HUB will offer PlayStation 3 owners, "much the same services as Xbox Live, including chat, downloadable demos, independent games and online play," says Next-Generation, going on:

"The service is also designed to support PSP online play as well as PS3. It’s a departure from PlayStation 2’s online strategy, widely regarded as vastly inferior to Microsoft’s.

"PlayStation HUB is being described to developers as a ’subscriber service’ suggesting a monthly charge. We understand the service is being created by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, although this is unconfirmed."

The story points out Sony boss Howard Stringer wants all media content available over PlayStation HUB, "thus opening up a powerful iTunes-like distribution network for Sony".

Next-Generation sources also suggest PlayStation 3 is slated to launch in September and, "Although the schedule does not explicitly state a hardware launch date, nor a launch territory, we understand Japan and U.S will both see the machine …"

Nintendo’s online will be free, and just as good as anyone elses… XD

No one who is really in to games looks at Nintendo. Nintendo is one of worst games business there is. They never take any notice developers views, they never take any notice of public view. To Nintendo there only on view and it Nintendo-view and other view’s are wrong. Thats why I have had pay cut as developer but dont have nothing now to do those at Nintendo systems.

Plus PS3 API’s are best of all the systems!

Matter of opinion. I’m into games and I like Nintendo.

    O__o…. wow…

Thanks for your negative opinion … *rollseyes*

At least Nintendo is trying to keep things more interesting…

I’ve been playing games since the Ataris… and as far as I’m conserned, Nintendo is the best company out there! I’ve never seen such quality and care in any other company… -_-

Sony and MS can suck it… They use the cheapest hardware, and throw out the most stereotypical, repeditive, and bland games I’ve ever seen… =P

It’s funny how console players get charged twice for playing online isn’t it? I mean you already pay for your broadband connections, now you have to pay again for using that service, heh.

In the PC world things are different, you pay for your broadband connection and thats it, you get everything else free :)

Consoles are a waste of time as far as i’m concerned. You have newer/better hardware available on the PC, as well as an enormous software base.

I’m sorry to say, but Nintendo has more repetitive games than any other console. Mario is in every single damn game…….<___<

  7. Reader's Write Says:

I suppose Mario is in Zelda and Metroid titles, hmm? Please do some research before posting any dumb comments.

Your blog regarding Will PlayStation HUB = Xbox Live? looks very interesting to me. I found it doing a search for online strategy games for free.
