p2pnet’s lottery windfall

p2p news / p2pnet: p2pnet gets four or five lottery ‘win’ announcements every day, together with the usual crop of emails from sons of various African prime ministers, financial secretaries, brigadier generals who’ve been guarding secret hoards of cash. And so on.

In short, the usual Nigerian and, increasingly, other, 419 scam-spams.

As we reported recently, “Microsoft is to work with the Nigerian government to help track down and prosecute criminals involved in 419 email scams and other internet-based fraud originating from the African country.”

It’s therefore only fitting that Microsoft is itself the front end of another lottery win con.

“We happily announce to you the draw of the Microsoft United Kingdom, New year internet promotions programs held on the 31st of January, 2006 in London,” says Mrs Magret [sic] Spencer in the ‘announcement’.

“Congratulations! You are among the ten (10) randomly selected for the New year promotions held in London. Selection was made using special software to generate valid email addresses at random from over 40,000 company and 20,000,000 individual email addresses from all over the world.”

Needless to say, we’ll be cashing in on this windfall and moving p2pnet to its new home on a sunny, tropical isle. We’ll let you know where that is as soon as we’ve found it.

Thanks, Bill.

Meanwhile, for your interest and entertainment, below, in full, is the most recent “Kindly accept my apology …” missive.

Kindly accept my apology for sending this mail to you. It is neither a sales solicitation nor spam.

Though, I do not know how conversant you are with events and the fragile political situation in Liberia, it has made consistent headlines on CNN, BBC and several news bulletins around the world.

I am Mrs.Suzana Vaye, wife of the late Deputy Minister of Works in Liberia (Isaac Nuhan Vaye) who was murdered by Taylor during the regime of President Charles Taylor on the false accusation and trumped up charges of trying to overthrow Charles Taylor.

You can verify this from many international newspapers like the one posted on the web site below: (nada)

During my husband’s stay in office, he raised a substantial amount of money from Diamond Sales over a period of 6 years and these funds were carefully moved out through legal means and deposited in a Security Firm in Spain.

The amount accrued from the Diamond sales is USD58.6M (Fifty Eight ponit [sic] Six Million U.S.Dollars Only) and I confirm that these funds are fully free of any liens, and are clean and without no criminal origin.

My Children and I have been confined only to our country home since the death of my husband and all our calls and movements are monitored. But five months ago I and my two children were smuggled through the help of our family lawyer of out of Liberia to Spain where we are presently under the care of United Nation as refugges [sic].

And as result of my status I cannot claim the said fund, hence I am soliciting for your assistance to relocate the fund with your identit [sic] so as to assume access to the fund.

My only means of communication is via internet email:- suzan71vaye@netscape.net

Let’s see. Shall we go for the lottery win? Nah. It doesn’t say how much. But USD58.6M (Fifty Eight ponit [sic] Six Million U.S.Dollars Only)?

The choice is clear ……….

“without no criminal origin” heh, spammers shouldn’t use no double negatives

Send an email to abuse@netscape.net to inform them that the address below is being used to receive replies for 419 fraud spams :
    suzan71vaye@netscape.net

copy the message as well as email headers. When netscap investigates, they will find the allegations true and will close the account. The spammer will have wasted much effort when he or she finds out that all replies have been cut off. Before emailing netscape.net, you might want to send a message to suzan71vaye@netscape.net telling him or her that spams sent to your domain will be automatically report to the free email service and that spamming p2pnet will only result in a free email account being shut down and a spam run wasted. It has definitly stopped plaza1.net from getting 419 spams. Since these 419 pay exorbitant amounts of money to spam from their Internet cafe connections, they might consider the wisdom of wasting their money spamming p2pnet. Word will spread to other scammers, and p2pnet will soon be free of this type of spam.

You’re right, William. But some are brilliantly creative …… ;)

    Cheers!
