Pirate Bay’s newest supporter

p2p news / p2pnet: "Toppkandidaterna (The Top Candidates) is a new reality show here in Sweden, where 6 young contestants gets to live like a politician," says a post on the Pirate Bay blog.

"Their goal is to generate opinion in favour of their ideas, and in the end hopefully get the winning prize of a quarter of a million swedish kronor (about $31 500) to put them into effect.

"Petter Nilsson, one of the most popular contestants, made it public yesterday that 50 000 SEK of his budget will go to The Pirate Bay if he wins.

"Politics is not something that happens elsewhere, it happens together with those you turn to. If I talk about animal rights, it’s because I have devoted my own time to get the animals out of the cages. If I talk about homelessness, it’s because I myself have been freezing in a squatted house with the homeless of Stockholm. If I say that immigration policies is scandalous it’s because I’ve had my own door kicked in by the immigration police.

"So when I donate my money to Pirate Bay, it’s because I also want to be able to download music and movies for myself."

Toppkandidaterna ends on March 12, "so if you like his ideas and you’re a swede–vote for him," says the blog, adding:

"I say Petter for president!"

All we need now is for someone on a reality show to put donate a win, or some of it, to the Patti Santangelo Fight Goliath campaign ; )

(Thanks, Brid ; )

  1. Reader's Write Says:

Sweden doesn’t have presidents, so it’d be Petter for Prime Minister.
