Yahoo chief nixes DRM
p2p news / p2pnet: Yahoo Music chief Dave Goldberg has apparently seen the light.
He told attendees at the Music 2.0 conference in Los Angeles that DRM has created a barrier for consumers, “making it a hurdle to transfer music to portable devices, and creating incompatibility between music services and MP3 players,” says the CNET music blog.
A Yahoo spokeswoman tried to excuse Goldberg’s intemperate remarks by saying he was, “basically trying to move the industry forward,” and wanted to prompt industry-wide discussion, “about what the consumer experience is”.
