Thwarting insider attacks
p2p news / p2pnet: IBM says a new software release available on February 28 will help small businesses thwart "insider attacks" by cutting accounts and privileges when employees leave a company, blocking others from "misusing accounts that a company has neglected to cancel".
Its new Tivoli Express also simplifies compliance efforts by reducing the time it takes to compile information and prepare reports from days to minutes, it says, going on:
"The software enables new employees or contractors to request and receive a new user account in minutes - a process that often takes up to 12 days, especially for technically-challenged smaller businesses."
IBM says it crafted the software by working with nearly 45 business partners at IBM development labs in Dallas, Texas, Tucson, Arizona, and Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as, "hundreds of IBM customers".
IBM Tivoli Express includes:
- IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Express
- IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Express, available on March 17, 2006.
- IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager Express, available on March 31, 2006
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring Express, available on April 7, 2006.
Pricing details weren’t given but, "Tivoli Identity Manager Express is listed at $24 per user, down from $32 per user for the enterprise version," says InformationWeek. The software is designed to run on a single server and can be deployed in about two hours..
