MS Origami ‘won’t play Halo’
p2p news / p2pnet: Bill and the Boyz are continuing to hype their latest project, the Origami, a touch-screen Wi-Fi hand-held Microsoft swears will, “change your life“.
The web site is promising more info next Monday. But it apparently, this new toy doesn’t play Halo after all.
“It is widely expected to be no larger than 10 inches, equipped with a full version of the Windows desktop PC operating system and priced from $500 to $800,” says USA Today.
But the story has industry analyst Gene Munster saying that by trying to be “all things to all consumers,” Origami may find it hard to earn “cool” points, and, “Ultimately, this will prove to be a marginally accepted product.”
Meanwhile, “Though gamers are no doubt put out that we won’t be rocking Halo on the go, Microsoft does seem enthusiastic about the Origami. Sources have told us that the company invited financial analysis, but no press, to a closed door briefing earlier today,” says IGN.com.
“The public unveiling of the Origami will likely take place at the CeBit convention in Hannover, Germany, and on the internet at Origamiproject.com on the same day, March 9.”
