Mydoom.F goes after RIAA

p2pnet.net News:- A MyDoom virus variant is heading for Big Music’s US enforcement organ, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

MyDoom.F, zeroed in on the RIAA and Microsoft sites, deletes different types of files stored on infected computers, says a CNET story here.

The RIAA site seems to go down regularly for reasons that are seldom explained, but it’s unlikely it’ll be seriously munched by this latest Mydoom worm.

“It [the Mydoom variant] is not very prevalent,” the story quotes Craig Schmugar, a Network Associates’ virus expert as saying. “We haven’t seen anything beyond (a single) sample in the past 24 hours.”

MyDoom.F apparently spreads using a variety of subject lines and message text, usually attaching itself to the message as a Zip compressed file, says CNET, adding that it infects Windows computers when the user opens the file.
