Net-dissident Ren Zhiyuan jailed
p2p news / p2pnet: Chinese cyber-dissident Ren Zhiyuan has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for, “subversion of state power” because of an article he posted.
“The verdict and sentence were delivered on the morning of March 17, Beijing time,” says Human Rights in China.
Ren Zhiyuan, a secondary school teacher in Zoucheng, Shandong Province, was arrested after he posted The Road to Democracy (Minzhu zhi lu), “in which he expressed the opinion that the people have the right to overthrow tyranny by violent means,” says the story, adding:
“Ren was also suspected of drawing up plans to establish an organization called ‘Mainland Democracy Frontline’.”
