Cdn military gear on eBay
p2p news / p2pnet: Current Canada military current gear has been up for sale on eBay, "igniting concerns about the security of Canadian troops," says Reuters.
"They appear to be Canadian forces uniforms or equipment," Captain Mark Giles of the National Investigation Service is quoted as saying
"Some pieces of the camouflage uniform, currently being worn by Canadian troops in Afghanistan, were being sold for just a few hundred dollars," says the story, pointing out it’s illegal for anyone but military personnel to own or wear uniforms being used in active duty.
George MacLean, an international security analyst and political studies professor at the University of Manitoba, said Canadian military uniforms would be highly coveted because of their pixilated pattern, which makes them difficult to see even with night vision equipment.
Reports that the items had specific serial numbers and could thus be traced to its owner, were inaccurate, Reuters has Giles saying.
