Vista release now 2007

p2p news / p2pnet: Longhorn was Microsoft’s code name for the OS that was to follow XP. But it was pushed back, pushed back, pushed back until it was so far out of sight that it completely vanished from view, finally re-emerging amid much fanfare as Vista.

New name, new game, new arrival time, with the basic home and business versions going for $200 and $300, respectively, and due out in the middle of 2006.

But now, "Microsoft is on track to complete the product this year, with business availability in November 2006 and broad consumer availability in January 2007."

In other words, Microsoft is off track.

Businesses will now get Vista just before Christmas, but consumers will have to wait until next year, 50-Billion Bill’s promises notwithstanding.

Why the delay?

Ordinary folks don’t really count. The, "industry requires greater lead time to deliver Windows Vista on new PCs during holiday," says Jim Allchin, co-president for Microsoft’s platforms and services division.

"We must optimize for the industry, so we’ve decided to separate business and consumer availability."

Meanwhile, Microsoft leader Bill Gates has admitted his company waited too long on Internet Explorer.

What’s that saying about snoozing and losing?

Don’t forget, you also get TPM support AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!

“It’s true, we charge a lot for our OS, but once you install it we’ll totally screw up your computer FOR FREE!”
