Mohsen al-Awajy freed
p2p news / p2pnet: Saudi Arabia has freed blogger Mohsen al-Awajy, arrested on March 10 for criticising the Saudi authorities online.
"Arab satellite channel Al Jazeera said Awajy was released earlier on Tuesday. Islamists who use a leading Saudi Web site also reported his release," says Reuters.
Reporters Without Borders and the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information this month sent an open letter to Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz asking him to step in on behalf of al-Awajy.
"We deplore the fact that the ISU [Internet Service Unit (ISU), a Saudi government entity] is able on its own to censor an online publication," said their letter.
Direct criticism of the ruling family, "is a red line for the media in Saudi Arabia, which has opened up to a vigorous debate on political and economic reforms unimaginable a decade ago," says Reuters.
"King Abdullah, who has said he supports cautious reforms, pardoned some jailed activists when he came to power last August."

This is the country that America considers a key ally for the past God knows how long. This is the same country America went in to “defend” during operation Desert Shield. This is not just a Bush policy, this has been a policy of all American governments.
It is no secret that the Saudi government is a puppet regime. There is no secret that the Saudi government is a tyrranical one, albeit not as tyrranical as the US. Al awajy’s release is really no success, he will never be able to blog with the same contents again. But then what value is it when a harmless blogger is released, the real freedom fighters are either locked in Saudi prisons or surrounded in Iraq by US troops and traitors.
I say let the bombs fly Al Qaeda, let them fly. Soon when the majority of the Western population and the world find themselves a part of the futuristic movies we see today about humanity being enslaved, the one world government that injects the populace with mood and thought control chips, when that day comes, we will look back and wish we did not call them terrorist, for we all will be terrorists on that day.
