Counterfeit KO in Russia
p2p news / p2pnet: A man allegedly selling counterfeit software and another selling the legal version slugged it out in a Russian fitness centre, says Mosnews, quoting News.Ru.
“In February, Smirnov saw the dealer selling CDs with his company’s software at a computer market without a license,” says the story, going on:
“Smirnov demanded that the dealer stop the illegal sale. A scuffle broke out, but they were stopped by the guard. After that, the pirate expressed a wish to continue the fight in the street, but Smirnov suggested a fitness center.”
Software department manager Andrei Smirnov in the blue corner defeated the unnamed counterfeit salesman 24-16 in three rounds, lasting three minutes each, adds Mosnews.
Russia is often the subject of dire warnings and threats centering on so-called “copyright crime” initiated by the entertaiment industry, and frequently fronted by US trade rep Rob Portman.
