p2p news / p2pnet: At least two people working on Chinese sites offering "pirated" movies or on-line games have been arrested.
They were, "accused of making $125,000 by running a pirated version of a game made by Chinese on-line game giant Shanda Interactive Entertainment," says the Associated Press, quoting China state news agency Xinhua.
"Another site was fined $12,000 (U.S.) for letting customers download thousands of pirated movies, Xinhua said, citing an announcement by the government’s anti-porn and anti-piracy task force," says the story, adding:
"Authorities closed 53 websites with pornographic or violent content, Xinhua said, without giving details.
"Under pressure from China’s trading partners [read ‘entertainment cartels’] authorities have expanded their on-line enforcement in recent years to include illegally reproduced movies, music and software."
