Rape suspect MySpace ID
p2p news / p2pnet: Detectives in Boulder, Colorado, used profiles on Rupert Murdoch’s MySpace, "to identify and arrest six rape and robbery suspects from a party that turned violent," says the Associated Press, going on:
"The victim met the suspects through MySpace … She told authorities that she knew only the suspects’ first names, but their pictures were on the Web site.
"The group met for a party in February. Police say that at some point, the victim was no longer aware of what was happening, and she was sexually assaulted."
The men face charges ranging from sexual assault to felony theft, says another AP story.
Some $40,000 in electronics, jewelry, clothing and other items were taken, authorities said. About $13,000 worth of stolen goods have been recovered.
"There was blood in almost every room of the house," the victim is quoted as saying.
Nicolas Brison, 18, was charged with rape. The ages of the other five, who aren’t named in either story, range from 18 to 20.
"They were charged on March 7 and hearings are set for April 6," says AP.
MySpace is as safe as, "anyplace in the offline world despite recent reports that sexual predators may be using it to find and lure young victims," declared the site’s founder Chris DeWolfe, recently.
The clip of DeWolfe is from a pic on Esthr’s photostream on flickr.
