p2p file-sharing forum slated
p2pnet.net News:- The Council on Competitiveness’ bipartisan Forum on Innovation & Technology will devote its February 26 boxed lunch session to a discussion on peer-to-peer networks, the technology behind them, and the potential they hold for legitimate business and consumer applications.
Co-chairs senators Ensign and Wyden are, “right, right and right again,” says P2P United executive director, Adam Eisgrau.
How can we build a fair and viable marketplace in which P2P technology plays a central and legitimate role?’ - is exactly the right question to ask, he says, adding:
“It’s being posed in a productively neutral and open-ended manner, and it’s being asked at the right time to have a profound impact.”
P2PĀ United represents BearShare (FreePeers, Inc), Blubster (Manolito P2P), Limewire (LimeWire, LLC), Grokster (Grokster Ltd), eDonkey2000 (MetaMachine Inc) and Morpheus (Streamcast Networks Inc).

On the other hand, the panel could be more like a comic out-take from Mel Gibson’s Passion, with copanelists RIAA and an “industry security expert” ready to nail poor lil’ Adam to the cross.

I’m the “industry security expert”. I don’t plan on nailing Adam to any crosses. Mostly I plan to talk about legitimate uses of P2P that policymakers aren’t aware of, centered mostly around BitTorrent.
