Google online music

p2p news / p2pnet: Could Google be gearing up to move into the online music business – and with variable pricing?

Ars Technica quotes a report from this year’s Digital Hollywood trade show saying Google has invited 20 music industry "top executives to a special "roundtable discussion " and although the agenda isn’t public, "many expect that it relates to Google’s possible entrance into the digital music download industry"

Google Video is already online and, "One of the precedents that Google Video sets is the idea of variable pricing".

Apple’s iTunes has, "stuck with a single price for all songs, something the music industry apparently is not too happy with," says the story, asking, "Could Google be preparing a a variable-priced Google Music store?

"The company has officially denied such rumors, but Google has surprised us before."
