Eminem -v- Apple
p2pnet.net News:- Eminem is suing Apple Computer for allegedly using the lyrics to ‘Lose Yourself’ in a tv ad and on its web site without permission.
"Eight Mile Style, music publisher of the artist whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, filed the copyright infringement lawsuit last Friday in U.S. District Court in Detroit," says a Reuters report here. "It also names Viacom Inc., its MTV subsidiary and TBWA/Chiat/Day advertising agency as plaintiffs."
The lawsuit claims Apple, in a tv commercial for iTunes aired on MTV last year, featured a young boy with an iPod portable music player singing ‘Lose Yourself,’ the theme song for Eminem’s movie 8 Mile.
"Eminem has never nationally endorsed any commercial products and therefore he indicated, though his manager, that even if he were interested in endorsing a product, any endorsement deal would require a significant amount of money, possibly in excess of $10 million," the 15-page lawsuit says, according to Reuters.

If it was an ad by Joey’s Hardware, then maybe. But the folks at Apple would NOT use a copywritten song without permission. That’s just a fact. My guess is it’s another publicity stunt. If the man had breasts I’m sure he’d get whatsherface Jackson to rip off his costume on live TV!
