Cell phone, brain tumour link
p2p news / p2pnet: Fred Gilbert will be pleased.
He’s the principal of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, who recently vowed to ban Wi-Fi until he was satisfied EMF (electric and magnetic fields) don’t pose a health risk, "particularly to young people".
To say scorn was heaped upon his head doesn’t cover it. But now a new Swedish study says using mobile phones over a long period of time, "can raise the risk for brain tumors," states Reuters, going on:
"Last year, the Dutch Health Council, in an overview of research from around the world, found no evidence that radiation from mobile phones and TV towers was harmful. A four-year British survey in January also showed no link between regular, long-term use of cell phones and the most common type of tumor."
But Swedish National Institute for Working Life researchers looked at mobile phone use of 2,200 cancer patients and an equal number of healthy control cases and found of patients aged between 20 and 80, "905 had a malignant brain tumor and about a tenth of them were also heavy users of mobile phones."
Moreover, "85 were so-called high users of mobile phones, that is they began early to use mobile and/or wireless telephones and used them a lot," said the authors of the study in a statement issued by the Institute.
"Published in the International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, the study defines heavy use as 2,000 plus hours, which ‘corresponds to 10 years’ use in the work place for one hour per day,." Says Reuters.
In 1999, the same Swedish research unit said, "Mobile phones do not increase tumour risk," although it said there was a need for larger studies.

It’s obvious that holding a 1/4 watt microwave transmitter (yes, roughly the same frequency range MICROWAVE energy you use to COOK your lunch…) a fraction of an inch over the same patch of living brain tissue for several hours a week every week for years and years is going to eventually cause some problems. I’ve been saying that forever.
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
Better to wear them on your belt so they’re closer to your reproductive organs…

I did notice that people who talk a lot over the cellphone to look impopsrtant are quite dumb. But then again, this is a chicken and egg proposition.

Thanks for the well-informed giggle, tinged with sadness.

I would say that most people miss the obvious; the cell phone makers and systems operators will never tell us the truth.

well…. ive always thought something isnt right with the way radio waves and microwaves and radiation just flows around us 24/7 and somehow we aint effected by it… it makes total sense… but i think cell phones are the least of our worries when we gobble down processed chicken and burgers. not to mention the crazy amount of pill poppers we have popping pain killers, anti-depression, Anti anxiety and viagra everyone single day….
ive watch my ex girlfriend’s mom die from a brain tumor.. the shit isnt funny… what really fucks them up is the kemo-radiation therapy… it destroys cells in your body rapidly and eventually you from the inside out…. One minute she was walking talkin laughing joking dancing and just a healthy ball of energy… then the brain tumor hit and BAM…. she was something close to a vegitable… could have been from the prescription meds.. could have been from cell-phones.. could have been from the TV… either way… cancer is a growing cell amon our culture today.. everyone seems to be dieing from some form… more then ever….. its from the way we live, we dont live right (my opinion) we arent living the way we were suppose too.. cars, gases, radiowaves, processed foods, micro waves and all sorts of things we are exposed to on a daily basis is killing us off slowely and surely.. it just isnt natural.. and it will bite us harder and harder in the ass as time goes by

Good point about the many other thinks we are regularly exposed to, willingly or not. We cannot live life in fear of everything. But where there are choices, we can try to make the better ones. Are cellphones a must have item? You choose.
In a certain ironic sort of way I’m glad we have that choice (and others). I for one am weary of the government trying to “protect” me from myself, even if I may need it somtimes…

The problem is that the energy developed by a cell phone is way too weak to even raise the temperature in your brain by even 1/10 of a degree.
And As far the microwave is concerned the energy can cook things for sure but is far far from beeing able to ionise and damage nucleic acid or anything. And as for the heat if your were sticking your hand inside the oven it will take at least 10 seconds to start heating the water in your hand enought to start burning you.
Also many studies have shown that very strong EMF field from with wave length from meters to submilimeter does not disturbe at all the embryonic development of birds and mamals.
So the question is how would it cause cancer?
Indeed most of the litterature in this field can not show any mesurable risk. I am not a believer of this.
Instead we should rather worry about the Xrays shooting from the back of our old CRT computer monitor or TV screen or about the gas exaust from our car and truck particularly when engines are cold in the morning.
They are way more likely to increase the risk of cancer.
