Microsoft ‘not trusted’
p2p news / p2pnet: “Apple, Bose and Dell are apparently the most trusted technology brands while Microsoft are the IT equivalent of politicians and estate agents.”
So says The Inquirer, quoting Forrester Research’s 2005 Technology Brand Scorecard, based on data from consumers on 48 technology brands.
“Forrester thinks the score means that Microsoft could be headed for big trouble, particularly as all the people who distrusted it the most were higher income, big spenders,” says the story.
“The report says with customer rankings this low, Microsoft could be facing a mass defection of customers as soon as they can find something to defect to.”
Bill and the Boyz have, “trouble making friends with European regulators” and often receive bad press for their “proprietary systems,” says Red Herring.
On the trust scale, Microsoft scored 3.9 out of a possible five, says the story.
“The survey was taken in September and October 2005, long before Microsoft announced that its next Windows operating system, Vista, would miss this year’s back-to-school and fourth-quarter selling seasons,” InformationWeek points out.

The average person can simply avoid sony - not so with microsoft. You have to be fairly technical to run an alternative OS on a PC. Yeah there is Apple - but they have issues of hardware compatability and software application availability.
Trust MS? No way.
Use them? Yep.
Wish there was an alternative? Absolutely.
