AOL becomes AOL
p2p news / p2pnet: Time Warner’s America Online division is now officially AOL, LLC, "a move that is intended to aid the company’s efforts to shed its aging [sic] image as a dial-up service provider," says BetaNews.
Sadly for AOL, ageing is the least of its worries.
"AOL has been busy rolling out a new generation of Web services targeted at consumers outside its walled garden, including those not in the United States," says the story, implying that Time Warner believes making AOL officially AOL will in some way help.
"Our new corporate identity better reflects our expanded mission – to make everyone’s online experience better," AOL chairman and ceo Jonathan Miller is quoted as saying.
Once, AOL was AOL Time Warner. Then the later wisely separated itself from the former.
However, AOL will forever be AOL. And that’s not good.

I’ve got a great way for you to make everyones online experience better. Wind the company up, shut it down, sell off its assetts and ban any of the major execs from ever working in internet related industries ever again. I could also make comments about the user base, but i’m sure there’s a few who don’t fit the popular stereotype out there. Somewhere.

Time Warner is only admitting to the gro$$ mi$take it made by (GREEDILY) buying up every “small” ISP it could. I hope they CHOKE on each and every one of them!
