Iraq blogger released
p2p news / p2pnet: Iraqi authorities have freed cyber-dissident Kamal Sayid Qadir, arrested and sentenced to 18 months in jail for posting "defamatory" articles about the authorities in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Qadir, an Austrian national, was released on April 2, says Reporters Without Borders.
He’d been on remand since October 26, 2005, in the autonomous region of Kurdistan in the north of Iraq, says RWB, adding:
"He was sentenced on 19 December 2005, for ‘defamation of public institutions’."
